"Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark." -- Rabindranath Tagore For Chinese brush painting, the traditional rice papers are used.  Rice papers are very different from the watercolor paper used in the western world.  The rice paper is a lot thinner and very absorbent.  If you make a mistake, it's very difficult to fix.  Unlike the western water color, one can uses a sponge to paper towel to pick up the paint before the color is set. "Mindless kindness; Mindful Evil" -- Khenpo Pema Wangdak I went to a Tibetan Buddhism teaching by Khenpo Pema Wangdak last month.  I enjoyed his teaching very much!  I am very intrigued by his word of wisdom.  I have been experimenting and learning to take notes in sketchnote format.   I am very touched my Lama Pema's phrase "Mindless kindness: Mindful Evil".  In his teaching, he mentions the important of establishing good habits of cultivating kindness so that it becomes our second nature.  In addition, we also need to be mindful or careful not to hurt others. #mtangdesigns #buddhism # 佛教 # 佛 法

"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself." -- Josh Billings     Chinese New Year is around the corner.  It is part of chines culture to draw or write calligraphy to bring good luck in the new year.  I drew this chubby toddler with a cute dog.  In Chinese astrology, 2018 is the year of dog!  The bottom of the shoes is the word "longevity".  The toddler wears a red sweater.  Red is an auspicious color!  This picture symbolizes a very lucky year!     May everyone has a healthy, happy and auspicious year! #mtangdesigns #chinesebrushpainting # 新年
